Creative Outlets for Grief: Art, Writing, and Expression
How creativity can help you process and express emotions after pregnancy loss.
Art journaling, painting, songwriting, photography, or even crafting can help give form to your grief. You don’t need to be “artistic”—you just need space to feel. For me personally, it was doing a complex puzzle. It allowed my hands to be moving and my heart to feel when and how it needed.
Writing is especially powerful. Try journaling about your baby, your emotions, or what you wish you could say. Some people write poems or letters as part of their healing process.
If you're unsure where to begin, start with a prompt: “Today, my grief feels like…” or “If I could talk to my baby, I would say…”
Let your creativity be a safe container for your pain. It doesn’t need to be shared to be meaningful.
Healing often starts when we give our grief a voice.
